Day 8 of TWW — symptoms or just progesterone? 😅
I'm going absolutely crazy over every little twinge. My boobs are sore, I had a tiny bit of spotting yesterday, and I'm convinced every gas bubble is an implantation sign. Anyone else been through this madness?
Finally got our BFP after 3 cycles 🌸
After two heartbreaking negatives and a chemical pregnancy, we transferred our last frozen embryo last week. Beta came back at 312 today. I'm shaking as I type this. To everyone still in the trenches — please don't give up.
Hyperstimulation fears — my follicle count is very high
Had my Day 7 scan and I have 28 follicles responding. My doctor mentioned OHSS risk and we're discussing a freeze-all strategy. Has anyone done a freeze-all? Was it worth waiting for an FET?
IVF in Prague — our full experience (long post)
We just returned from our second cycle in Prague and wanted to share everything — clinic selection, costs breakdown, accommodation tips, and the emotional side of being away from home for 3 weeks. Happy to answer any questions.
Supporting each other through missed miscarriage
I found out at our 8-week scan that there was no heartbeat. Our embryo had stopped developing at 6 weeks. I'm devastated and trying to figure out how to grieve while also thinking about what comes next.
Retrieval tomorrow — what to bring / what to expect
First retrieval tomorrow morning and I'm terrified. I have 11 mature follicles on my scan. Any tips for what to bring to the clinic, what sedation feels like, and recovery at home?
Wellness During Your Journey
Evidence-informed tips to support your body, mind, and spirit throughout treatment.
Nutrition
- Mediterranean-style diet rich in olive oil, leafy greens, and oily fish
- Adequate protein (especially during stimulation) to support follicle growth
- Limit processed sugars and trans fats which may affect egg quality
- Stay well hydrated — aim for 8+ glasses of water daily
Stress Management
- Mindfulness meditation — even 10 minutes daily can reduce cortisol levels
- Acupuncture has been shown in some studies to improve IVF outcomes
- Journaling your feelings — don't suppress the hard emotions
- Setting boundaries with intrusive questions from well-meaning family
Supplements
- CoQ10 (600mg/day) — mitochondrial support for egg and sperm quality
- DHEA (under doctor supervision) — may improve ovarian reserve in poor responders
- Vitamin D — deficiency is common and linked to lower IVF success rates
- Always discuss supplements with your doctor before starting
Sleep
- Aim for 7–9 hours — melatonin produced during sleep supports egg quality
- Create a consistent sleep schedule even when anxious
- Cool, dark room helps — heat disrupts sleep especially with progesterone
- Avoid screens 1 hour before bed during the two-week wait
Relationships
- IVF stress can strain even the strongest relationships — communicate openly
- Your partner may process grief and hope differently — give space for both
- Couples counselling or fertility-specific therapy is a sign of strength
- Celebrate small milestones together — every step forward matters
Financial Burden
- Research NHS/insurance entitlements thoroughly — criteria vary by region
- Some clinics offer multi-cycle packages or refund programmes
- Medical financing options exist specifically for fertility treatments
- Charitable grants are available — Fertility Network UK, Baby Quest Foundation
